Announcement Description

The Agroecological and Safe food System Transitions (ASSET) project aims to promote Agroecology in Southeast Asia (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos). It involves a consortium of 23 International/European/National Institutions and Organizations and 2 United Nations Agencies. It aims to foster technical, organizational and institutional innovations at territorial level in “flagship” programs in order to support policy making initiatives. In Cambodia, Preah Vihear province is selected as the flagship site, and the flagship activities are being developed in the communes of Rovieng district. A range of trials and demonstrations as action research are being implemented to develop improved system and practices based on agroecology for lowland rice, cassava, cashew nut, improved pasture and cover crop seed production. Therefore, the project is looking for a Field Coordinator to coordinate all these activities.

Field Coordinator (1 Position)

Position Summary

Term & location: The duty station is based in Rovieng district, Preah Vihear province.

Supervision / Report to: The work will be co-supervised by Dr. Rada KONG (the national project coordinator, CIRAD) and Dr. Pascal LIENHARD (Agronomist and co-coordinator of flagship program of ASSET project, CIRAD).

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • The field coordinator will have to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Updating the current dynamics and trends of agricultural production systems and livelihoods notably the farming constraints, and initiatives / intervention coping with those challenges.
  • Coordinating the design and implementation of on-field trials and demonstrations for agroecology-based practices and systems.
  • Coordinating the monitoring and data collection of the trials and demonstrations.
  • Coordinating the promotional and extension activities with other partners and stakeholders especially private sector
  • Supporting and facilitating the implementation of other project’s activities in the flagship
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • The candidates should meet the following requirements:
  • Minimum of bachelor degree preferably in Agronomy or related field with good educational background agronomic experiments and farming techniques both annual and perennial crops.
  • Experience in implementation of agronomic experiments / trials and demonstrations for improved practices
  • Experience in agricultural extension and interaction with private sectors, famer organization, governmental organization, local authorities and other stakeholders
  • Good English both specking and writing
  • Willing to stay and work in the rural area
