About the Role:
The role of the Nurse involves the provision of clinical care to HALO employees and the upskilling of the national medical team. You will provide ongoing support and professional development opportunities to the Chief Medic, Medical Administrator and Location Medics to help build resourcefulness and knowledge within the team. You will be required to work collaboratively to navigate the Cambodian healthcare system, ensuring that HALO employees have access to safe, appropriate and quality healthcare both at the HALO locations and in other healthcare facilities across the country.
You will communicate regularly with senior HQ staff; updating them about complex patients, any long-term illness and patterns in sickness that require further exploration and any further medical issues as they arise.
This role is based in Siem Reap, Cambodia but will require some travel to the three sub-locations.
- Clinical Care
- Responsible for reviewing patients in sick bays when visiting HALO locations.
- Formulating individualised treatment plans for patients who are staying in location sick bays.
- Referring patients from the sick bay to an appropriate healthcare facility when they require a level of care that cannot be provided at the sick bay.
- Follow up on patients who have recently been discharged from hospital and advise on the most appropriate location or facility for patients to rest and recover when unwell.
- Visiting patients in hospitals, health centres and private clinics and liaising with relevant healthcare staff when there is concern about the level of care and/or the treatment the patient is receiving.
- Review of patients with chronic illness.
- Regular liaison with the programme medical team and with hospital doctors and/or nurses regarding HALO patients.
- Documentation
- Analysing data to identify trends and patterns in sickness and/or injury and the subsequent impact on workflow.
- Reviewing monthly medication use by each location.
- Reviewing the dispensing of sick bay medication to ensure appropriate medication is given to patients and is documented accurately by the location medics.
- Communication
- Regular meetings with the Programme Manager and/or Programme Officer to review long-term sick patients, complex medical cases and any other relevant discussion points.
- Communication as required regarding in and out of hours emergencies.
- REQUIREMENTS:
- A registered Doctor with experience in acute care.
- Experience in capacity development of a team.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluating the quality-of-service provisions and implementing necessary changes.
- Strong work tenure: 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role.

- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in medicine or equivalent.
- SKILLS:
- Basic / Intermediate English.
- Good communication skills.
- Provide leadership and advise staff.
- Good communication skills and ability to deal with sensitive information.
- The ability to work with others to plan, manage and implement service developments.
- Knowledge in Microsoft Office.
