Design Coordinator

Position Summary

HEKS/EPER is herewith looking for position of Design Coordinator for Designing Human-centred Solutions for Improved Climate Resilience (Design4Climate) project based in HEKS/EPER Office Cambodia, Phnom Penh. The Designing Human-Centered Solutions for Improved Climate Resilience (Design4Climate) project is committed to enhancing the livelihoods of smallholder farmers, vulnerable groups, and their communities in Cambodia, while boosting their resilience to climate change. By using both a human-centered design and a market systems development approach, the project fosters the transition to more resilient market systems in an effective and inclusive way.  

Reports to: Direct supervisor

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of project activities in close collaboration with the Design Lead and with a strong focus on designing new user-centered solutions that address key challenges in agriculture, climate change adaptation, and related sectors.  
  • Independently contribute to the design of new project activities and support the project team in developing new interventions, using participatory and iterative design processes to deliver impactful interventions tailored to community needs. 
  • In collaboration with the MEAL unit and the Design Lead, contribute to data collection, support data analysis, and assist in the preparation of quarterly reflection and learning processes to inform adaptive management and enhance project impact. 
  • Support project financial and administrative processes in close collaboration with finance and administration teams. This includes supporting budget monitoring for assigned interventions and ensuring the timely submission of required financial and administrative documentation.  
  • Support fundraising and acquisition efforts by contributing to the development of concept notes and proposals, sharing relevant project information, and working closely with communications colleagues. Participate in acquisition activities at project or country level as required. 
  • Engage and liaise with agriculture cooperatives, producer groups, market actors, and key partners, including government, civil society, academia, and the private sector, to support effective collaboration and the joint development of project solutions. 
  • Contribute to project reporting and knowledge management, including inputs to donor and project (annual) reports, documentation of lessons learned, and development of learning and communication materials. 
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • English - Fluent
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in agriculture, rural development, environmental sciences, international development, social sciences, or a related field. 
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in project implementation or coordination roles, with proven knowledge and hands-on experience in the agriculture sector, particularly in climate-resilient agriculture and the design of inclusive, sustainable, and market-driven interventions. 
  • Practical experience in design thinking and in the co-creation of market-driven solutions with communities and stakeholders, as well as exposure to private sector partnerships, is a strong advantage. 
  • Experience applying participatory approaches in project design and implementation, including engagement with communities and a range of stakeholders. 
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to understand complex systems, identify key leverage points, and contribute to the development and testing of new ideas. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication English skills, including experience contributing to reports, learning products, and communication materials. 
  • Experience supporting fundraising or acquisition efforts is an advantage 
Soft Skills
  • Strong ability to work independently and proactively initiate and shape new project interventions, with comfort working in dynamic environments where project plans and scopes are still evolving. 
 
 

National Communication & Media Intern

Reports to: Team Leader / PM (or delegated supervisor)

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • . Crowdfunding Campaign Support 
  • Support local partners in implementing crowdfunding campaigns for cover-crop businesses, aimed at crowd-in investment through blended finance, donations, and reward-based models 
  • Assist in organizing and implementing the online crowdfunding campaign activities 
  • Support exploration and assessment of crowdfunding platforms (e.g. Global Giving) and relevant social media channels 
  • Communication & Media Content Development 
  • Support development of communication materials for crowdfunding, including: 
  • Farmer impact storytelling videos and short clips 
  • Press releases and media briefs 
  • Website or blog content related to the online campaign 
  • Online campaign progress tracking and updates 
  • Support development of knowledge and communication materials on climate-resilient Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) for cashew and pepper 
  • Photo, Video & Field Documentation 
  • Support capturing high-quality photos and videos of field activities, trainings, and demonstration plots 
  • Assist in organizing and archiving visual content for communication and reporting purposes 
  • Market & Stakeholder Communication 
  • Support preparation of communication materials that highlight project impacts, business opportunities, and embedded services for market actors 
  • Assist with visibility and outreach to private sector partners, media, and other stakeholders 
  • Monitoring, Learning & Knowledge Support 
  • Assist the project team in monitoring activities, including data and information collection in line with the M&E plan 
  • Support baseline studies, case studies, and other learning or documentation activities

  • Strong interest in development communication, digital media, and storytelling 
  • Basic skills in photography, video recording, or content creation 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (especially Facebook) and online communication tools 
  • Basic understanding or interest in agriculture, climate change, or rural development is an asset 
  • Good working knowledge of English

Field Intern – Demonstration Farms & Farmer Learning

Type: Full-time Internship

Reports to: Field Coordinator

Works closely with: Field Coordinator/Officer, demo farmers, CAOs, cooperatives

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Field Implementation Support 
  • Assist with day-to-day activities at demonstration farms 
  • Support basic farm tasks related to demo-plot establishment and maintenance 
  • Help ensure field activities follow guidance provided by the Field Technical Coordinator/Officer. 
  • Farmer Mobilization & Training Support 
  • Support mobilization of farmers for trainings, field days, and learning events 
  • Assist during training sessions and farmer meetings (registration, setup, coordination) 
  • Support lead farmers and CAOs during peer-learning activities 
  • Monitoring & Data Collection 
  • Assist in collecting basic field data (attendance lists, simple observation notes, photos) 
  • Support monitoring visits by recording activities and farmer feedback 
  • Help maintain simple records for demonstration farms

  • Support coordination of schedules for farm visits and field activities
