Design of the training – Objective, Scope of work, and Methodology
Objectives:
The training course will be thoughtfully designed to address all learning objectives, ensuring effective delivery and meaningful knowledge transfer to all participants. The key objectives of this training are:
- Enhance staff understanding of resource development and fundraising principles, with a focus on institutional, corporate, and individual donor engagement.
- Equip staff with practical tools and techniques for developing competitive concept notes, expression of interest and proposals for institutional donors such as KOICA, EU, GAC, FCDO, DFAT and USAID.
- Strengthen strategic thinking around fundraising approaches tailored to corporate donors and high-profile individuals.
- Build staff capacity to respond effectively to calls for proposals and cultivate long-term donor relationships across diverse funding streams.
Scope of assessment:
The selected consultant will be responsible for the following:
- Design a comprehensive training manual and presentation tailored to Habitat for Humanity Cambodia’s operational context. This includes developing relevant materials, tools, and methodologies that address institutional, corporate, and individual donor engagement strategies.
- Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions grounded in adult learning principles and participatory approaches. The sessions should incorporate practical exercises, group work, real-life case studies, and simulations focused on proposal development and strategic fundraising.
- Provide targeted guidance and technical support on developing compelling concept note, expression of interest and proposals for institutional donors (e.g., KOICA, EU, GAC, FCDO, DFAT, USAID), as well as strategies for engaging corporate donors and high-net-worth individuals.
Eligibility
- We encourage applications from diverse teams that include women, people with disabilities, and individuals from marginalized gender and ethnic groups etc. The consultant or consulting team should have strong expertise in resource development, fundraising strategy, and capacity-building training for NGOs or similar organizations. The ideal candidate(s) must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver practical, interactive training tailored to institutional, corporate, and individual donor engagement. Essential qualifications and experience include:
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in resource mobilization, fundraising strategy development, and/or organizational capacity building.
- At least 7 years of experience in designing and facilitating training programs on fundraising, donor engagement, and proposal development.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of institutional donors (e.g., KOICA, EU, GAC, FCDO, DFAT, USAID), corporate partnerships, and high-net-worth individual fundraising.
- Proven experience in developing competitive proposals and strategic donor engagement plans.
- Skills:
- Strong training facilitation skills using adult learning principles and participatory approaches.
- Excellent research and analytical skills (submission of a recent strategy or analytical report is required).
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Additional Assets:
- Experience working with international NGOs, donors, and government stakeholders.
- Familiarity with advocacy, social protection, housing and land issues, climate resilience, and market development is an advantage.
- Local Context:
- Demonstrated experience in Cambodia and understanding of the local development and funding landscape.
