Computer Teacher
Location: New Hope Cambodia Siem Reap
Duration: Three Months’ Probation Period
Reporting to: School Principal
EXPECTED OUTCOMES AND SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The computer teacher is expected to teach Microsoft office, and design applications to students and teachers and help students and teachers with Information communication technology or social media, monitor, and report all education ICT materials and regular maintenance of all ICT material in education project. The full responsibilities are as follows:
- Teaching and learning materials are sufficient for use in the classroom.
- Work with teachers and volunteers and ensure that all teaching and learning materials (computers hardware and software etc.) for Primary and Secondary English Education are available and safely kept in the ICT room.
- Collect a variety of teaching and learning materials in soft copies for Primary and Secondary English Education Programmers’ such as: class books, activity books, teacher’s books, class audio CD, too-digital classroom resources, teacher resources pack, DVD, flashcards etc.
- Report any damages or losses of any hardware or software to the principal for replacement.
- Follow the agreed weekly timetable
- Assist in the development of a weekly timetable for ICT lessons for each class.
- Ensure each class attends the ICT room according to the agreed timetable.
- Assist in the enrolment process
- Disseminate enrolment to various stakeholders including commune councils/CWCC, relevant schools, NHC staff, and students.
- Design student recruitment, job announcements, available courses, computer certificate, etc.
- Prepare and conduct computer tests for the part-time student based on the developed NHC test.
- Improve teaching techniques and subject knowledge such as: English and computer.
- Follow the lesson structure at all times (recap, present, practice, produce and plenary)
- Participate in school meetings, parent meetings, and professional development activities.
- Run the computer classes for part-time students
- Teach 2 classes of the part-time Program focusing on Ms Office, Designing program and email, internet and other social media per day using participatory techniques
- Maintain and update accurate and complete records of students’ attendance and performance to the system by 28th of the month
- Maintain discipline following the rules and disciplinary systems of the school:
- Ensure that all ICT facilities are ready for ICT lessons
- Installed or set up all software and hardware for ICT lesson practices
- Assist teachers of English and volunteers teaching ICT lesson using digital resources and to apply classroom management techniques to all lessons (such as raise hands to answer questions, wait until children are quiet to give instructions) to make sure children pay attention
- Organize students to clean ICT room.
- Prepare and conduct students’ assessments on a monthly basis, and ensure the statement of results are developed 2 times per academic year of 9 months.
- Design and submit student assessment tools to deputy principal for finalization.
- Conduct student assessment
- Enter scores from the assessment into the scoring database on a monthly basis.
- Complete students’ attendance and performance reports 2 times per year.
- Prepare monthly reports for the school principal using the agreed template.
- All children are cared for and supported by all concerned people and institutions to keep them healthy, safe, and protect them from violence at school, in their families and in society.
- Establish student dossier containing enrolment form, birth certificates, tests, statement of results, etc.
- Assist in snack/meal administration
- Gather students to complete health checkup 2 times per year
- Disseminate school rules and expected behavior, rubbish management, child rights and responsibilities, etc. to students.
- Educate parents on child rights and responsibilities, safe and non-violent behavior, classroom rules and expected behavior etc.
- Conduct parent-teacher meetings to discuss attendance and performance reports
- Work with outreach officer or librarian to follow up absenteeism
- Provide safety training to children.
- Work with teachers and volunteers and manage them effectively to ensure they help with classroom duties
- Communicate what needs to be done and how to do it clearly before the lesson.
- OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist other teachers in management of students ‘arrival and departure activities (assembly)
- Ensure children at all times are protected from physical, emotional and sexual abuse, and report any mistreatment or abuse of children.
- Ensure that the New Hope Cambodia code of conduct is followed by staff at all times.
- Follow other duties as reasonably required by management.
- Respect child rights, privacy and confidentially at all times, by involving children in case planning ensuring that their privacy is protected, and not disclosing sensitive or private information to other children, or other agencies, without permission by the child, with consideration of the child’s development, and other safety issues.
- Provide classroom decorations to make it more interesting and support children’s learning and make sure the classroom is clean and child friendly.
- Make sure that all the class doors and windows are closed and help switch off the big fans and lights properly after class. Report any damages or losses of the classrooms and inventories to the school principal.
- Always follow the teacher codes of conducted as agreed.
- Read and write good English.
- Bachelor of computer science or information technology
- Computer management network and maintenance.
- Love and value teaching career.
- Excellent skill in Ms. Office, design applications and internet, emails, and social media.
- Excellent interpersonal skill to liaison with other relevant staff within New Hope Cambodia
- ICT program planning and project management and Research skills.
- Possess professional attitude and diligence and ability to work independently as well as work in a team.
