Purpose of the Call
Internews announces a limited competition for funding to support projects that promote freedom of expression and access to information in Cambodia.
Internews seeks programs that are creative and innovative that contribute to the following objectives:
Objective 1: Professional and citizen journalists safely and effectively report on community needs and development
Objective 2: People in Cambodia have increased access to diverse sources of non-biased, fact-based information of public interest
Objective 3: Professional and citizen journalists effectively pursue their work on freedom of express and access to information, and advocate for a legal framework that respects their work
Example of activities can be as following:
- Running a community radio station that broadcasts local news and events, giving a platform to a range of voices and perspectives.
- Producing a series of short documentaries that focus on underreported stories, particularly those affecting marginalized communities.
- Creating a network of freelance journalists who can report on issues that are not being covered by mainstream media.
Bidder Eligibility
- Internews welcomes applications from Cambodian non-profit organization, youth-led group and/or local media outlet. Applicants must demonstrate experience and skills to implement their proposed ideas.
- Proposed projects must contribute to at least one of the three objectives listed above.
- Clear project statement, objectives, activities, work plan and expected results
- Proven experiences in promoting freedom of expression and access to information in Cambodia
- Strong interest and commitment towards promoting freedom of expression and access to information in Cambodia
