Biodiversity Project Officer
Office based: Rattanakiri project office, Banlung city,
Reporting to: Lomphat project manager
The Biodiversity Project Officer and his line manager will develop a close working relationship and liaise regularly. Honesty and openness are vital prerequisites to successfully fulfilling this role.
Reporting to jobholder: Project assistant and field monitoring team
Working relationships: All BirdLife Cambodia Programme staff, BirdLife Project Lomphat project staff, Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary officers and commune and district officials.
Overall purpose of job:
To provide technical support that will promote the conservation of Lomphat Wildlife Sanctuary.
- Duties
- Lead and support the species monitoring activities
- Undertake species and habitat surveys.
- Support trapeang monitoring and restoration activities.
- Manage and lead the biodiversity and species conservation team
- Collate, analyze data and develop journal paper as directed.
- Develop monthly progress reports as directed.
- Be responsible for data storage.
- Generate maps using GIS.
- Ensure equipment is maintained in good order
- Provide training and backstopping to other staff as required
- Provide general assistance with logistical matters as required
- Limits of authority
- Procuring equipment as directed by your line manager.
- Disperse project funds as directed by your line manager.
- Not to be make any statement on behalf of BirdLife unless directed by your line manager.
- A higher degree in biological sciences or geography.
- A good understanding of the conservation scene in Cambodia.
- At least two years experiences in similar position
- Be able to develop species and biodiversity monitoring protocol
- Fluent spoken and written Khmer.
- Very good spoken and written English.
- Ability to work with less support and leading field monitoring team.
- Shows initiative and is trustworthy.
