GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. 

The Improving value addition in the conventional and organic mango value chain in Cambodia (MangoPPP) project implemented GIZ Cambodia, Kirirom Food Production (K.F.P) Co., Ltd, Angkor Green Investment and Development Co., Ltd (AGID), and Grove Fruit Growers (GFG), in close cooperation with the Provincial Departments for Agricultura, Forestry and Fisheries, as well as relevant stakeholders in Kampong Speu, Kampong Thom, and Kampong Chhnang. Drawing on best practices from previous GIZ initiatives, the project will promote climate-smart practices, strengthen value chain linkages, and build local capacities to support sustainable mango production and processing. Beyond that the MangoPPP project supports market access and business linkages beyond Cambodia in ASEAN and the EU.

Position Summary

The position is for the MangoPPP Project in Kampong Speu Province

To support the projects field activities in Kampong Speu, the projects is looking for an Agricultural Advisor based at the programme office in Kampong Speu. S/he/they will ensure effective and efficient project activities implementation in the Kampong Speu province related to the mango value chain support.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Agricultural Advisor is responsible for providing technical expertise, implementation and monitoring of project activities in the Kampong Speu province according to the commissioned objectives and indicators and in this context, s/he/they perform following tasks:
  • Technical contribution to the (further) development of trainings for mango farmers and ACs, supporting the selection process of farmers and Acs
  • Technical inputs for training materials, presentations, posters, factsheets, videos etc. that will be prepared for the mango value chain
  • Preparation, setting-up and accompanying of farmer and AC (and MSME) trainings and coaching on site, cooperation with model farmers and coordination of demonstrations sites
  • Support of the farmers and ACs in contract farming and market linkages
  • Day-to-day support of M&E activities, including baseline, midterm and endline surveys, as well as annual project progress surveys and other related activities
  • Support preparations for/ and accompany events, field days, official visits, etc. in cooperation with project management and partners
  • Coordination with PDAFF and governmental extension services
  • Regular participation in meetings with GIZ and partners with individual contributions concerning the project implementation progress, achievements etc.
  • Steering and monitoring of all project activities in Kampong Speu
Expected Profile of Candidates
Languages:
  • Khmer - Good
  • English - Good
Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in agriculture or environmental sciences or comparable qualification
Work History:
  • At least of professional working experience in related positions for 5 years
Skills & Knowledge:
General & Technical Skills
  • Excellent knowledge of the Cambodian agricultural sector and understanding of its structure, challenges and possible solutions to improve competitiveness in the Kampong Speu province
  • Very good knowledge of the mango value chain
  • Longstanding experience in the advice of PDAFF and/or other relevant public institutions on provincial level, proven experience on the successful advice and capacity development of farmers and ACs
  • Experience in implementing agricultural projects on the ground
  • Excellent verbal and written English and Khmer language skills
  • Excellent command of MS-Office
  • Good working knowledge of modern telecommunication systems
Soft Skills
  • Very good networking, moderation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent communication skills facilitating collaboration to achieve joint objectives
  • Proven ability to work in a team, also in intercultural contexts
  • Willingness to travel in Cambodia and to work and stay in the field
