WVS Cambodia, also known as Animal Rescue Cambodia, is a locally registered charity with the mission to create sustainable animal welfare for dogs and cats in Cambodia. We focus on 3 programs:

  • Shelter/Community Clinic
  • Mission Rabies Cambodia
  • International Training Center (ITC)

This position is part of the Shelter/Community Clinic program. At our shelter/community clinic, we spay/neuter 15-20 animals (mostly cats) roughly 3-5 days per week. Our veterinary team takes care of up to 30 shelter and in-patient clinic animals daily, while also providing roughly 10 consultation appointments to the community. We visit pagodas and other communities to help care for stray/community animals.

Adoption/Foster Coordinator

Position Summary

Who we need

We are seeking a motivated Adoption/Foster Coordinator who will join our shelter/clinic team. You will work 40 hours per week, mostly during the week. Though, as adoption/foster appointments and events might happen on weekends/holidays, you will be required to schedule some weekend/holiday hours independently. Your weekly working hours are therefore flexible, but do not exceed 40 hours per week.

Expectations - Duties, Responsibilities
  • Coordinate surrender requests and shelter intake in close collaboration with the Clinic/Shelter Manager and in accordance with ARC’s SOPs and forms
  • Keep detailed and organized records of surrender requests and adoptions and fosters
  • Support and communicate with the community, while avoiding/redirecting unnecessary shelter intakes
  • Closely collaborate with the communications team to prepare pre-sheltering and adoption/foster materials, social media posts, etc.
  • Coordinate adoptions/fosters in accordance with ARC’s SOPs and forms
  • Actively search for and join events to promote and educate about our pre-sheltering and adoption/foster program
  • Observe social media groups/posts/pages and interact with community members in need of our pre-sheltering or adoption/foster program
  • Collect data and assist in their evaluation
  • Continuously research and implement best practices for pre-sheltering and adoption/foster programsBe available for adoption/foster appointments or events – even if scheduled on weekends/national holidays (working hours are flexible to accommodate the need for occasional schedule adjustments)
  • Overall support the development and improvement of the pre-sheltering and adoption/foster program as needed
Requirements - Skills, Qualifications, Experience
  • You are fluent and confident in English and Khmer.
  • You have a problem solving mind and you are able to assess situations correctly and entirely, before preparing solutions.
  • You are very detail oriented.
  • You like to be organized and manage your files, schedules and plans well and independently.
  • You are a charming and outgoing personality, who is comfortable communicating with a variety of different people throughout the day.
  • You have a keen interest in animal welfare and are very comfortable around cats and dogs.
  • You can work independently with minimal supervision, providing excellent work results.
  • You are committed to long-term employment.
