Announcement Description

GIZ is a federally owned enterprise and is supporting the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

The FABRIC Cambodia project supports the Cambodian textile industry in its transformation towards fair production for people and the environment. It identifies the common interests of key actors – in the factories, ministries, civil society and international brand manufacturers – and brings them together with the aim of developing a shared vision of sustainability and promoting greater cooperation. Such an approach can pave the way for qualitative growth alongside price competition. The project draws on experiences and knowledge from successful sustainability initiatives in other programmes of German development cooperation focusing on the textile and garment industry. In close cooperation with those programmes, the project works with industry stakeholders towards joint positions and approaches on sustainable production.
