Duties + Requirements
Advisor – Mother and Child Health
 
  Duties
  • Support the provincial and OD MCH teams in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the annual work plan; including provision of supportive supervision and training on the job
  • Identify needs and conduct relevant trainings in maternal, newborn, and emergency care
  • Support sensitisation measures for communities in regards to EmONC, family planning, safe abortion and other reproductive health issues
  • Support the programme team and the MCH unit in assessing competencies and training needs with regards to EmONC, including hygiene, birth spacing, counselling and specialist skills upgrading as well as in identifying capacity development measures for health staff relevant to Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH)
  • Assist the programme team in designing and effective behaviour change communication (BCC) strategies as well as development of information, education and communication (IEC) materials
  Requirements
  • Diploma in midwifery / medical doctor degree
  • A minimum of 5 years professional experience
  • Practical experience in midwifery, mother and child care, emergency obstetrics
  • Good proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Willingness to frequent travel within the province (health centres, district hospitals) is required
