Accounting Manager
Duties
- Supervises, directs, and reviews the work of the accounting staff (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, accounts receivable transactions, fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, debt activity, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.)
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
- Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions
- Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Supports budget and forecasting activities.
- Monitors and analyzes accounting work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
- Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the accounting tasks
- Provide training to new and existing staff as needed
- Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc
Requirements
- BBA/MBA with an emphasis in Accounting
- Minimum 2 years of Accounting experience
- High level of initiative and work well in a team environment
- Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently, with little supervision
- Ability to effectively direct and supervise
- Knowledge of operating and capital budget concepts
- Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion
- Knowledge of policies and practices associated with payroll and benefits administration
- Knowledge of personnel policies and procedures
- Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Peachtree, QuickBooks etc.)
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records
- Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
- Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions
- Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions
