WorldFish, a member of the CGIAR Consortium, is an international, nonprofit research organization. CGIAR is a global partnership that unites organizations engaged in research for a food secure future. CGIAR research is dedicated to reducing rural poverty, increasing food security, improving human health and nutrition, and ensuring more sustainable management of natural resources. It is carried out by the 15 centers who are members of the CGIAR Consortium in close collaboration with hundreds of partner organizations, including national and regional research institutes, civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector.

Duties + Requirements
Aquaculture Specialist
 
  Duties
  • Provide support on specific technical areas and research inputs for aquaculture within the aquatic agricultural systems framework of activities in collaboration with national and regional partners
  • Lead in management and coordination of aquaculture related research projects and provide aquaculture expertise to multi-disciplinary projects led by others
  • Produce documents with high degree of accuracy, including drafting science papers, project reports based on required format and including preparing and delivering high quality presentations
  • Organize workshops, consultations and meetings with national and international partners and stakeholders
  • Oversee and manage project budget and work plans and monitor expenditure
  Requirements
  • Working experience in aquaculture related field. Experience in conducting action research with communities involving small holder aquaculture is desirable
  • At least 5 years development project management experience in aquaculture or related fields
  • Masters-level qualifications (in sciences (M.Sc.)
  • High cultural sensitivity and proven record of effective coordination between multiple partners
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write well in English with experience of reporting in English
  • Strong initiative, good judgment and proven ability to work independently
